Here Wanders Mistress Adventure!
Here begins the foundation laying of plans!
Six weeks from now we are beginning our newest adventure, just one week, but still an adventure! Road trips have come to be something of a building block in our relationship, as we've gone from California to Florida, and then back again eighteen months later. So, here we go again; but this time it's not to get to our new home, it's just for the fun of it!
We have been trying to plan a vacation for ourselves of months now and none of our ideas to date have been financially realistic or inspired. One of us has been getting really attached to one idea or another and the other one has been shooting that idea down; back and forth the cycle has gone until "We should go on a road trip!" came out.
"Where should we go?"
Previously we've driven from Los Angeles, California to Orlando, Florida (2700 miles/4350 km) via Flagstaff, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Dallas Texas; and New Orleans, Louisiana. So the idea of starting in Los Angeles and heading east again would need to take us a little further north for adventure to flourish, and while there are plenty of easterly destinations that would be exciting for us, going more directly north fit more with the only previous vacation plan we'd been able to agree upon but financially didn't feel safe committing to, namely spending a long weekend in San Francisco, California. Well, what if we headed north to Seattle? And what if we camped in our tent on the way? That sounds perfect for adventure and for cost. So we've started to juggle the process of planning...
Trip dates:
Definitely the last week of July. Exact dates to follow.
Weather:
Haven't even checked, but still making camping plans
Destination:
Seattle, Washington
Distance from my comfy couch:
1100-1200 miles (1800-2000 kilometers)
Direct drive time:
17.5-20 hours of driving
Playlist status:
Not yet started
Current song mood:
"The Man" by The Killers
Stops along the way:
San Francisco, California
Portland, Oregon
Interesting food and drink
Pretty views, trees and sunsets
So far, our plans consist of "We should go on a road trip this summer for our vacation!", "That sounds fun", and the ideas you've read above. Which means we will be trying to work out the details for our little adventure more and more as we get closer and have days off together to discuss the details, but in the mean time I'll just be here looking at maps and campgrounds between here and Seattle. Next you'll here from me will probably be a rant about my lack of ability to find campgrounds where we can pitch a tent and sleep a few hours, but here's to positivity!
Head north!
