1,500 Mile Check In

Yesterday after checking out of our Air B&B we headed out from Seattle and made our way to Portland where we did some more wandering. Lunch consisted of quinoa burger, fries and some fancy biscotti goat cheese thing that was just too tasty to try and identify further. We took the rest of our two hour parking window to walk to a donut shot (not Voodoo Donuts, don't worry Nathan) and get some desert because that's the kind of people we are. My uncle called us around bite five and said he was in town if we wanted some coffee, which seemed like a non sequitur, but wasn't.

So we crossed to the east side of Portland and chatted with my uncle in one of his coffee shops for a bit about coffee, family, our trip to date, and the nude jumper that was saved from the I-5 bridge that morning. After a coffee or three we promised to deliver hugs to family and made our way to a local distillery for a sampling (#grouponftw #marionberry).

We had plans to stay with my cousin in Vancouver last night, and at my uncle's recommendation we dragged cousin Scot to "the best Thai food for 150 miles in any direction" for dinner. A pad Thai and a curry dish later we concluded that my uncle has good taste in Thai food, and that it was time for ice cream. Scot took us to a local grocery for some soft serve and gelato, and then we headed back to his place for some sleep before our 12 hour long haul to a campground for tonight.

It was nice to catch up with family, but now it's time for a car nap...
